METAMORPHOSIS

When I think of metamorphosis I think of the changes that living beings go through that help them advance through the different stages of life. It signifies transformation, development, evolution, regeneration, growth, mobility, movement and maturity.

 

This is one series under my exploration of metamorphosis where I have been inspired by representations of change and growth in nature. Using the technique of electroforming. Electroforming allows a metal to grow on

a surface through the process of electroplating. I was drawn to the quality of how the copper cannot hold onto very brittle surfaces. As it peels off, it leaves behind a delicate form as though a moment of transformation is frozen in time yet slowly disintegrating just as the copper crumbles away.
