A SAVIOUR OF SHIPS

Götaplatsen in Göteborg, Sweden is the city's main boulevard and one of its most prominent public spaces. It’s a cultural spot that comes to life surrounded by a concert hall, an art museum and a theatre on three sides. In the center of the square a large bronze statue of Poseidon,
the Greek god of the sea sculpted by Carl Milles has become one of the iconic symbols of the city. The placement of the Poseidon statue who is said to be the ‘saviour of lost ships’ is almost as though he is protecting and watching over the city.
To resemble the sails of ships, my collection of prints on fabric takes inspiration from certain ordinary yet significant objects and elements in Götaplatsen that in my eyes gives the space character.
